The Hangar table design project was initiated to address the business challenges faced by the enterprise. The goal was to create a table that would add to their collection of distinct identity, imbuing charm, nostalgia, and utilitarianism. The outcome had to be a table that differentiates itself from all others in the market, a table that is distinctively recognizable and true to the brand ethos.
Meticulously crafted by artisans in a variety of production disciplines, the Hangar table showcases superior quality. The table consists of three detachable parts: a steel chassis, four wooden legs, and a glass top. The solid ash wood legs feature the brand's burn-marked logo and custom brass washers, adding a touch of elegance to the design.
Packaged in a complete-knock-down format, the Hangar table is easy to assemble. It can be knocked down into six components and packed into three boxes. Graphical assembly instructions are provided to ensure a hassle-free assembly process.
With dimensions of 1790mm in length, 900mm in width, and 752mm in height, the Hangar table offers ample space for dining and entertaining.
The Hangar table design project started in March 2018 and was completed in late August 2018. It was exhibited at Furniture China 2018 in September, showcasing its unique design and craftsmanship.
The primary research for this design involved informal interviews with enterprise stakeholders and business-to-business customers. Valuable insights were gathered, with a strong emphasis on the JotterGoods brand ethos and values.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was striking the perfect balance between aesthetics and structural integrity. Numerous iterations and prototypes were studied before the table took its final form.
The Hangar table design by Amos Goh is a testament to the designer's ability to transform utilitarian spaces into functional and visually appealing furniture. With its distinctive design and attention to detail, the Hangar table adds a touch of charm and nostalgia to any dining space.
